Music Education Mission

The purpose of the Cheerful Heart Music Education Mission is to share the love of God through music; to nurture the musical talent and the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth of children in need; and to bring joy to the underserved people of the area.

Cheerful Heart Mission has a school of music in Loma de Cabrera, DR where students receive free weekly instruction from local music teachers. A partnership with the Jacobs Virtual Academy (JAVA) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music makes weekly online music lessons available, too. Children can enroll in music fundamentals, music technology, guitar, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, or voice. Cheerful Heart Mission also offers online music lessons through JAVA to a community band in Tilori, Haiti. Musical instruments are donated and maintained by Cheerful Heart Mission.

Each year, a team of music teachers from the United States travels with the Cheerful Heart Music Education Mission to teach, inspire and motivate the young musicians in Loma de Cabrera, DR and Tilori, Haiti.
